Kid #2 wants a guitar for his birthday. Any recommendations? Anyone got a used one that their kid has outgrown?

Rondo has some very inexpensive short-scalers in strat and tele styles. Their stuff is usually a good choice, especially for the coin.

Pam, here's a pic like the Ibanez Mikro I picked up for my girlfriend's seven-year old two weeks ago. I played everything electric and 3/4-sized in the store and this was the undisputed winner.

Pam, I have a super clean Hecho en Mexico Fender Duo-Sonic in black with a maple neck and fingerboard that my daughters have ignored for years and now outgrown.

"22.5 scale (or thereabouts), nice slender neck and super light, but it isn't a toy by any means. It has 2 single coils and a hardtail bridge - no through the body stringing. It sounds really good and I noodle on it on occasion and wonder why my lovely chilluns never got tugged in by the charms of the electric guitar (they opted for Viola and Trombone instead - go figure!).

It could be had for a very nice price, is almost as new, and I have a pea-shooter amp or 2 I could toss in if that isn't yet covered.

hi pam! i had one of these (for a travel guitar w/ my dayjob). they do play great, but mine would NOT stay in tune.

ive gotten 2 guitars off rondo with no problems at all, they sound half way good to!

Look for an early 80s Peavey T-15. Has the 23.5-inch scale like a Fender Mustang, but at a mere fraction of the price. They can be had for less than $200 with a hardshell case. American made, to boot.

okay.. we looked at our options and my kid wants the daisy rock debutante star... a little six-string bootsy collins! i can't fault him for style points!

when/if he gets bored with it, i'll rock that thing!
