Stets on Studio

Okay, now that I've got the tailpiece bushings secured, my old Studio is ready for a Stetsbar. It was Eric Stets who pointed out that my tailpiece was popping off.

BTW, next time someone mentions using crazy glue/water thin CA -- DON'T! I wish I had stuck with wood glue, because that CA stuff needs to be as far away from your finish as possible. (Forget about the next owner, you're the only owner that matters!)

Now I need some locking tuners.

QUESTION:

These Schallers look like perfect drop-in replacements for the Schaller-Hamer machines. Some here have mentioned that there is an issue with the shafts being too short for Hamer headstocks. (WTF?) Is it also true that the so-called Schaller classics (M6A) have no direct replacement that you can buy in the US? Has anyone else crossed this bridge? Please tell me how much/little mod the various alternatives entail.
