Messageboard Upgrade

Nice Work Steve that is good stuff thanks for finding that! I had to figure out how you did it and for sake of the others it looks like you select the 3rd icon from the left in the tool bar which is speciall BB code select media then input the url from whatever source you are posting. If this works I am correct.

This board software is the same as another board I'm on, so I figured it would work. I usually just type the media and /media tags by hand with the url in between. "Media" and "/Media" should be surrounded by [ ] but I can't type them that way and have them show up in the sentence.

I still don't know what the "My Media" thing is though.

This is all so disorienting. Right now, the only constant in my life is, or was, the HFC board. /emoticons/default_laugh.png

 
We can try to adjust the settings to make it more like the old board in the good ways people miss but need feedback on what that is or how it could be made better. Let us know.

Looks like deleted stuff came back and displaced stuff saved due to time sequence. I'm 97% full and was but stuff kept is gone and other stuff is back. Otherwise no real problems to report other than smilies in old posts did not make the transfer. /emoticons/default_smile.png/emoticons/default_laugh.png

  1. I agree with gorch that the formatting could be a little more efficient with the use of space, especially vertical space. There's quite a bit of unused screen real estate, which makes browsing a little slower.
  2. Related to the 1st point, it would be nice to be able to increase the number of posts per page.

 
It's taking shape. Nice HFC logo appears at the top end.

Would it make sense to add a shopping link to address funding on memorability sales? The T-Shirts and mugs I bought recently are quite nice. I'd recommend the link centered between the logo and search at the top.

I'm loving every bit of this upgrade. Browsing time is actually FASTER for me!

 
The powers that be probably are way ahead of me on this, but I wouldn't be quick to make adjustments to the visuals. Remember we're largely a bunch of old farts here, who are resistant to change. As long as the functionality is there, everything else is a bonus.

The ability to embed YouTube videos alone is an encouraging indication that the HFC has finally arrived in 2011!
