GuitarDoyle Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 Hey gents...I wanted to mention I had a little test last night with my Hamer Studio and LP Standard. My tech loves the Rio BBQ/Texas set as do I but he also has an extra WCR Fillmore set about three years old. We swapped em between both guitars and found that really they are both great pickup sets! I didn't notice the Rios being any darker than the Fillmores maybe a bit more compressed but definitely had more low mids and the Fillmores seemed to have more upper mids. The BBQ didn't sound quite as good in my Studio but that could be how it was balancing with the guitar's natural frequencies. It was scary in the end how close they are! I would say the Fillmore was a bit brighter if I had to take a pick. Really though the Rio BBq is in the league with boutique guys from what I can hear! In my opinion and to my ears, the Duncans I own seem to lack some personality in comparison.Anyway...thought I'd pass this along.....I'll try to get into this in more depth later today.
