andyr Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 Saw this one by chance in ebay: http://cgi.ebay.de/Hamer-USA-E-Gitarre_W0Q...1QQcmdZViewItem Up to now the price is tempting, but there is one big disadvantage: https://fotoalbum.web.de/gast/mohawk13/Hamer_USA Does anyone have experience with such serious defects? Will it have a remarkable effect on the sound / sustain? It seems to me that the repair-work was not done in a professional way.
fenderiarhs Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 i've seen that one on ebay.................for 91euros that is a bargain i think, even with that bad broken neck-headstock area (the weakest point of hamer chapparals....that angled headstock is fragile.....). Even if that is not a proffesional looking repair you could go to some other good luthier and fix it(and if the luthier is really good the guitar will sound as if it were new), pay the money, and still consider that you have bought the guitar at a very good price. Most chapparals custom(the set neck version that is) i have seen seem to be going for 300-700€At the end of the day if you are not happy you can sell everything for parts and get you 90 euros back
andyr Posted September 10, 2005 Author Posted September 10, 2005 O.K. the 91 € are a good price but it is the current bit two hours before closure of auction. I remember approx. 3 weeks ago there was sold a complete wreck without hardware in German ebay for 160 € (see picture). Unbelievable!!! So I think, that this won´t be the winning bit. By the way I´ve seen that your gear is very similiar to mine: Chap, Strat Plus 94 with JB-Humbucker and Mesa Boogie DC 5 Combo. Only the switches of your combo are different. My Amp has 3 steel pins instead.
