Pickup Advice (NHC)

OK...so, I'll admit it...I have other guitars besides my Hamers, but, they don't get much play. I recently rediscovered my Steinberger...M series with TransTrem...it has stock EMG's in it...I can't stand how sterile they are...there's no life in them...so, I am looking for something new for this guitar. It has a HSH configuration, although, I am not against just changing the buckers out and not using the middle PUP...it just gets in the way of my picking...so...any thoughts?

The guitar has an alder body with a maple cap and the Steinberger blend neck...if that makes any difference.

Thanks,

Erik

Sorry...should have been more specific...I play mostly classic rock. My other PUPs of choice have been Rio Grand BBQ/Texas in my Artist, BBQ/SD59 in my Studio, Pearly Gates in a custom shredder-type guitar, and stock Wolfgang PUPs in my Wolfgangs. I guess, with exception to the Wolfgang PUPs, I like a milder pickup that still has the ability to put the power out if I need it. I like the BBQ, but am not quite sure it would sound as well in the Steinberger as say, a Muy Grande...I think I'm thinking too much about the make-up of the guitar...different tone woods than I am used to and certainly the graphite neck...all of that has to make a difference, but I just don't want to get stuck with the wrong choice.

Thanks,

E
