MTM105 Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 Instead of digging deep into the controls, I simply cut the wire near where it comes towards the (Chinese) pickup on my Ibanez ES 330 Artcore (I scored it almost perfectly new off of Ebay, with shipping $199). The tone was OK, but not sharp enough. So I replaced it with DiMarzio Virtual PAF. Can't go wrong, really. Except the pickup has something like 5 leads, and the wiring running to the switches/knobs only has two. Very basic. So, by trial and error I picked out whatever sound came poured out........very professional, I know. So anyhoo, there is a monstrosity hiss originating from this pickup. Do I need to run a ground wire somewhere deep into the ES cavern, where I am unable to finess my fat fingers?????? It's just that there isn't anything on this planet that is going to drive my hand down into there.......
