Tokyo Tapes Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 I have this one at TGP, but thought that someone here might be interested: For sale here is a very rare amp. Mystique Amps made 25 of these “Blues Lady” amps. 4 of those were 100 watters. Tommy Cougar of Custom by Cougar fame made these amps and it was one of the first and in my opinion best efforts to capture that Dumble mystique. I have played several Dumbles, the famous Ultrasound Tan Dumble for exemple, and this amp definitely holds its own in their company. They all have their own sound and it is as difficult to nail the “Dumble sound” as it is to nail a “PAF” or a “Plexi” because they all sound different. Still, I think this amp has all the characteristics we usually associate with the originals. It has one of the best clean sounds I have ever played and I should really keep the amp just for that sound. The overdrive channel has everything you would expect from a high class Dumble derived amp and produces unique tones but can still get very "Ford-ish" Here’s what Tommy has to say about this amp / "Jessie Mae" has a specially tweaked clean and a detail matched od stage with internal post overdrive EQ (HRM), it has separate master volumes, the clean is set in a rather unique way producing a killer sweet glassy tone, and this also result in a OD that is a big fat and chunky yet smooth overdrive with plenty of rockbite and definition, it responds quickly in response to you fingers, custom designed transformers , 4x5881 powertubes, 3x12ax7 bias test points, passive loop, halfpower switch, 4-8-16 jacks / Jessie Mae has a PT for 230V, but can be switched to 120V if someone in the US should be interested. Price: $5900 Here are the pics. The green suede looks a bit grey-ish on some of them, but it's more green in real life.
