andyr Posted July 15, 2005 Posted July 15, 2005 I have a Sustaniac GA-1 in my Chap and despite of the fact that I put on the e-bow-effect very rarely, I have to exchange the two batteries every approx. four weeks or earlier. I have used so far the most powerful and long lasting ones available. For other purposes these batteries last for months! What is more I plug off the guitar every time when I don´t play. The only explanation which seems to be reasonable for me is, that the power consumption is extraordinary high whenever I play regardless if I use the e-bow or not.I´ve read somewhere that the GA-2-system needs 10 mA in standby-modus. That´s not very much. Does anybody know something about the GA-1-system with regard to this matter? The nice toy is going to be too expensive for me. I will try to use rechargeable batteries but these ones have a capacity up to 250 mAh (each one) and I´m concerned that I have to exchange them than every half an hour. Definitely too often during rehearsal or a gig.

Are you sure it is still fatory wired or did someone maybe play with the wires over the past decade? Look in the wiring section here to see if you can confirm it is wired correctly.

Look in the wiring section here to see if you can confirm it is wired correctly.I never leave the guitar cord plugged in. So that can´t be the reason. The only modification which was done is the exchange of the Hamer Slammer Humbucker by a Seymour Duncan TB 6 Distorsion. I have done this by myself und I´m pretty shure that the wiring wasn´t changed. But thanks for the hint, I will check this.Maybe the new pickup has an effect on the power consumption. Sounds unlikely for me.
