licksville Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Will be in Tucson AZ briefly in August and was wondering if anyone could advise on some music stores and/or pawn shops that might have some interesting guitars hanging (Hamer or other). I guess I could ultimately do the phone book or internet search thing but was wondering if anyone had first hand experiences to share. Much obliged.
SteveB Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Theres a funky place I think called "Chicago Music" downtown. its a big place with guitars just strewn about everywhere collecting dust. Most of it's crap, but you might find something interesting underneath the cobwebs. If you like Southwest style food with some kick to it, you must go to "Cafe Poca Cosa", also near downtown at one of the hotels. One of the best restaurants in the country, in my opinion. Also, "El Charro" has some good eats as well.
Monacosis Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Chicago store can be a lot of fun, just get ready to talk 'em down if you find something you like. Rainbow Music (or Rainbow Guitar) is the big gun in town, unless they have a GC now.+1 for El Charro. For music, Club Congress used to have good Friday night shows, followed by late night breakfast at the Grill downtown. If you feel brave, go to South Tucson and try the little Mex food joints. mike
licksville Posted July 19, 2005 Author Posted July 19, 2005 Thanks for the info, amigos. Will definitely hit the aforementioned establishments because, as coincidence would have it, I enjoy both guitar shopping and taco eating. Not to mention Mexican Beer drinking.
