Vintage Sunburst Neck Carve?

Jellyfish

Question

Posted

I asked this question on the FS board, but thought I'd try here too... Anyone know what the neck carve is like on vintage Sunbursts (79/80). Is it super skinny (like my 82 Proto)? I guess the narrow string spacing of the Sustainblock limits the width of the fretboard somewhat - but did Hamer give different models different shapes to the back of the necks? Any wisdom - especially from vintage Sunburst owners - would be appreciated!

Neck carves were medium C profile up til about 1980 when they started getting thin

The neck width was narrower (42mm nut width) than later SUnbursts 1990 onwards

My favourite neck carve is mid 1990's medium, wider than early Bursts
