Jimbilly Posted December 12, 2023 Posted December 12, 2023 Some of you might find this helpful (not that you're getting older or anything...), or have insights. I developed some thumb base inflammation and pain, at the basal joint (big one right next to the wrist), mostly in my left hand, the F bar chord is the worst one. I've ended up wearing a thumb brace quite a bit, and although I keep overdoing it with various projects etc, the brace helps, and I'm able to play bass very comfortably with the brace, guitar is pretty doable too. I actually forget that I'm wearing the brace on the left hand while playing. Per the hand specialist I visited, the "Push Metagrip" at the left is the best one available (ebay/amazon has them). My right hand is also troublesome, I haven't quite figured out a brace for that one, it's more the MCP joint on that one right now. But the "Velpeau" brace (shown at right) seems to be a pretty decent alternative to the Push for the basal joint, at a much lower cost (also ebay/amazon, $40 ish)
