Hi I have a question about a unique? 8 String Hamer Bass I acquired several years ago. The bass appears similar to a Nick Lowe short scale? bass but has no serial number and was modified for Fender styles pickups and had been repainted purple! The guy who sold me the bass said he his friend (original owner) had worked at the Hamer factory and that the bass was one of the first Hamer 8 Strings ever made. I stripped off the purple paint and found beautiful flame veneer on the front. I stained the guitar cherry red and shot clear gloss. Has anyone ever encountered a short scale bass with this kind of flame veneer? Also do you think it is worth it to fill the Fender style routes and put in an original pup? Thanks RAR
