  1. I got a set of custom wound FAT PAFS from Bulldog pickups here in the UK. Hayden used to wind pickups for Bareknuckle and worked at Matamp. Now he makes his own. Me, I wanted a bridge pickup with a more rounded response and less treble, which he delivered using an Alnico 2 based design. Wonderfully rounded sound but still very articulate with enough bite. The (close to)standard FAT PAF neck which it came paired with is also gorgeous. Real nice pups, they went into my Artist and replaced the Seth Lovers. The Seth neck pup migrated to my Korean Slammer, paired with a Phat Cat at the bridge. Mmmmm. Not sure if it's worth it if you're in the USA, but Hayden was good to deal with. Food for thought.
  2. One day a serious guitar buying pilgrimage is in order!
  3. Ho hum. That's not too bad.
  4. You're right on the VAT front, my bad there. That's where the real sting is. Thanks for the wise words regarding shipping. Been crunching the numbers and I'm not sure I'm going to go ahead on this one. Will mull it over some more... The P90 GAS is overpowering! I might hold out for a Special in the UK (or elsewhere), which will cost me slightly less than a P90 loaded Artist.
  5. Hi... Try this LINK Thanks, handy little tool. Duty was more than I'd expected! Also looking for personal experiences with import/export, thing that went right and wrong. What to do, what not to do, etc.
  6. Has anyone got any experience shipping guitars from the USA to Europe (UK in my case). I’m eyeing up a Hamer Artist P90 on TGP which I want to get it shipped to the UK. What’s the best, cheapest carrier to go with? (USPS / Fedex / UPS). Just looking for general advice. Never imported a guitar.
  7. Pups arrived all in one piece. Thank you, please doing business with you man!
  8. Nice one mate. My tale is similar, was an aspiring metal head, and scraped the cash for the Slammer, which was my pride and joy for years. It served me well (and still does).
  9. I have one just like this but in black, nice guitar. Was my first proper guitar, still have it 16 years later! Nice to see some more UK Hamer lovers BTW!! I'm based in York, UK.
  10. PM'd re: The Phat Cat. I had Seth's in my Artist, which I recently changed out for some custom Bulldog FAT PAFs (Hayden who used to work for Bareknuckle). I love the new pups but kinda miss the Seth's, so they'll definitely be going in another guitar at some point. They have loads of open sounding sustain, a bit of honk and plenty of bite, but in a very pleasing musical way. Good pups for sure.
