Scottcrud Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 so what's the difference between the Black Cat moan wah and my trusty 15 year old Dunlop crybaby wah?
guitarded_1 Posted July 19, 2006 Author Posted July 19, 2006 so what's the difference between the Black Cat moan wah and my trusty 15 year old Dunlop crybaby wah? The Black Cat Moan can function as a totally normal wah. However, it also has an option to add gain/boost and has an effect called "moan". Basically, the moan/gain is particularly suited to rock soloing...it just sounds totally mean and nasty (in a good way). I find that the traditional crybaby tends to get lost in a band mix, but the Black cat can poke through with volume and tone. All of the functions are versatile and intuitive...and it has a neat blue LED that can be seen from Saturn. Most importantly, buying this pedal will make your wildest dreams come true...seriously. I'm selling all of my pedals because I have gone from full time touring player to bedroom wanker. I just don't need em' any more.
Jeff R Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 and has an effect called "moan".Is that like Clapton's "woman tone?"
Scottcrud Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 Most importantly, buying this pedal will make your wildest dreams come true...seriously.hhhmmm...how much would shipping be to Texas 78660?
Scottcrud Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 also, how much coloring of the tone does it do when turned off? about the same as the Crybaby?
guitarded_1 Posted July 19, 2006 Author Posted July 19, 2006 also, how much coloring of the tone does it do when turned off? about the same as the Crybaby? First shipping...let's say $7 as I will probably just use one of those USPS Priority flat rate boxes. I really didn't notice any big tone suckage factor...certainly no more than a regular crybaby. I went with the Black Cat over the crybaby mainly because of the added options/versatility. In all honesty, I would love to have a top of the line $200 wah, but I just can't justify it.As for that "moan" effect...it's not like a "Woman Tone" thing. It's more sleazy sounding. More like "Whore Tone" than "Woman Tone".
guitarded_1 Posted July 19, 2006 Author Posted July 19, 2006 Ooooooooops. I forgot to mention that the wah also has a switch to choose between 3 different voicings. Pretty cool feature.
guitarded_1 Posted July 19, 2006 Author Posted July 19, 2006 I'm thinking about it... This is the wah you are looking for
guitarded_1 Posted July 19, 2006 Author Posted July 19, 2006 D'OH!!! Just realized I have a PM from someone wanting the wah. Scott, you are next in line if it falls through.Steve
