Plexi modded Traynor YBA-1A...Price dropped

Up for grabs is an early 70's Traynor YBA-1A that has a few very useful mods. The original YBA-1A was a loud beast pushing 90+ watts and 500+ plate volts on 2 EL34's. As such, they were great amps, but not entirely practical for guitar purposes. Nevertheless, these early Traynor amps are quite sought after these days for their close relation to the Marshall plexi/JTM45 amps.

This particular amp has been upgraded with an Obsolete Electronics 50 watt plexi output transformer (8 and 16 ohm speaker outs), Heyboer power transformer, choke, new LCR caps and JJ E34L tubes. As such, it's putting out 50 watts with around 400 volts on the plates. The mods alone are easily worth $200+. The hand wired circuit board is largely unmolested (with original mustard caps). Most guys are snatching up these amps with the intention of investing further cash for plexi-like upgrades. In this case, it's already done.

The back panel is missing, but aside from that, the amp is in pretty decent shape for a 30+ year old speciman. I'm asking $400 plus shipping. In a day and age when $400 won't even get you half a decent amp, I think this is a very fair deal. Feel free to check my Ebay feedback (guitardedatl).

These are great amps. My modded YBA-1 is presently my No. 1 amp. I believe the 1A has a cooling fan.

Upgraded trannys? I always thought the Hammonds were bulletproof.

The original Hammonds are great transformers, but tone-wise, they're pretty unique...not very Marshallesque. The OEI transformer is no slouch...top of the line shizzle.
