DavidE Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 Japanese Fender Strat XII. This guitar replaced my Ric 360 because the 360's neck was so tiny it was unplayable. This guitar is very high quality and I understand it has some better hardware than the ones they started making again. I haven't seen a new one, so I don't know the details on that. PRICE DROP! $600 via USPS postal money order.

I know that the new one has 12 saddle intonation, which is certainly a nice feature. Older one have that as well?
DavidE Posted December 22, 2007 Author Posted December 22, 2007 This one is made in Japan. Serial number begins with E8, so I think that means it was made in 1988. There are some dings on the body and the back of the neck, but overall the guitar is pretty clean. I don't have precise measuring tools, but I think the distance from the highest e string to the lowest is 1.5 inches and full width of the fingerboard is 1.55 inches.I don't have an accurate scale, but it's actually not that heavy. I'd guess under 8 lbs.Yes, the bridge has adjustable intonation for all 12 saddles.According to Wiki, these are the differences between the old and the new versions (I note my version has 12 full length adjustible screws for the intonation and very different looking saddles):The Fender Stratocaster XII is the 12 string version of the Fender Stratocaster electric guitar made by Fender. It was introduced in 1985 and re-issued 20 years later after a brief discontinuation in 1996. Unlike the Fender Electric XII, it uses a Strat-style body. The Stratocaster XII is designed in the United States and manufactured in Japan. The original 1985 version featured some slight differences compared to the re-issue model of 2005; it had a larger bridge and saddle system similar to that of an Electric XII and an altered headstock shape with raised machine heads. It also used a 22-fret neck with a rosewood fingerboard and pearloid dots. The current version features a modified hard-tail Strat bridge, a pao ferro fretboard with 21 frets and clay dot inlays.
