4x12 cabinet wiring help

So I just bought 4 new 16 ohm spaeakers ( two celestion centuries and two eminence red ryders) for my slant 4x12, I want to wire it 16 ohm, I've downloaded a diagram from celestions site, but I'm confused about the wires coming out of the tip as positive and negative. My cab has two input jacks on the back, I just want both to be 16omh, no stereo bullshit. Can someone please draw me a simple diagram explaining it in laymens/idiots terms please? Thanks in Advance.

Edit... sorry, misunderstood, I thought you wanted stereo for my first post.

look here. Cab wiring diagrams

Just pick the right "series/parallel 4x12" diagram. If you have two jacks, just wire the speakers to one of the jacks, then wiring the extra jack to the other one in parallel.

There are actually two ways to hook up four 16 ohm speakers to get a 16 ohm load for the whole cab. Believe it or not, there is a noticeable difference in how they sound; went thru this about 3 months ago myself.

Basically, following the lingo on the site that TG cited, a parallel-series setup (which requires six wires) gives you more emphasis on the upper mid and high ranges.

The series-parallel setup (which requires seven wires) gives you more emphasis on the mid to upper low range.

You can try for yourself to see which setup works for your cabinet/speaker/amp combination.

I definately want the lower, mids thing with the 7 wires. I'm used to running my cabinet a 4ohms and like that tone, but I don't want to ruin my OT tranny, so I'm wiring it to 16 ohms and using the 16ohm speaker jack. Kendrick also told me this way I'd be using the whole transformer and it should sound better.

I don't rememer who posted it about it first, but when I rewired my cabs the trick of using a 9 volt battery to make sure everything was in phase was invaluable, especially since I wired one of my cabs to have a built in serial connect box to another cab. Just touch the leads of a 9 volt to the jack and you will be able to see the cones move and make sure they are all in sync.
