Due to the lack of interest re the sunburst and lack of finances re the family this ones up for grabs too.

1980 Hamer Special.

All in all a great playing, sounding, looking guitar, loads of character and personality, great condition but some mods.

The good stuff...

Absolutely KILLER flame top, nice chunky neck, VERY good condition, OHSC, original frets (LOADS of life left in em) original hardware.

The not so good stuff.....

I am this guitars 2nd owner. Bought from new in london in 1981, original owner replaced the pickups and installed the mini toggles.

Pickups are non original. I took out the sd59's i came with and installed dimarzios. Bridge is an old super distortion, neck is an air classic. Non original, but sounds great and really suit the guitar.

Toggles are obviously mods, but professionally done, and wired for parrallel/series switching. So that makes this guitar very versatile, and the slightly hotter (compared to a paf) super dist means the coli split sounds realistic and theres no harshness to the bridge position now (like the originals!!)

I had 2 of the pots replaced with proper correct dimarzios and all the knobs too. My tech emailed the hamer factory and they told him which ones to get.

So all in all its a great guitar, the only minuses are the toggles (or a plus if you want versatility) and the pickups (which is a plus if you like fat tones!!)

If you're wnating a chunky necked early special that doesn't sound as harsh as the original stock ones and that has a KILLER flame top, then this is the one for you.

I'm looking for offers around £500 all in. Killer guitar for that money, what else could you buy in the UK of this quality for that much??!!!
