Line 6 DL 4 Delay Modeler

I am in the market for a delay pedal and I was wondering if any of the forum members have a Line 6 DL 4. What are your thoughts good or bad.

I found it to be the bee knees in terms of versatility, power and convenience. After all it's like 3-4 pedals in one ( depending on if you use the tap tempo - which is a great feature) with a broad array of sounds. I couldn't use it, however. I found that it squashed my tone way too much ( even in digital bypass mode or whatever).

my 2 cents

I bought one from GC and returned it within a few days. Too big and heavy and lots of options that I would never use.

For a verstaile rack mount delay, nothing beats the original Chandler Digital Echo. I've had one for 10 years and bought a spare off eBay a few years ago. For the past few years I've been using a Maxon AD900 600 msec analog delay. It's one tone sounds great. Fat, warm, natural tone that doesn't clash with the dry signal.

Isn't that the problem of Line 6??? to much knobs and things? With one of my bands we are rehearsing in a new studio, and that guy told me to leave my Peavey at home cause he had 2 "so much" better amps, which are some of the newest Line 6. I can't get used to them.... too much of it all, and it kills my tone, if I can find the right one! It also does all kinds of things I don't want :D

why not going for a Boss or something like that.

Thanks for the replys. It sounds like I should stay clear of the Line 6. Can you recommend some other units. I have a Danelectro Echo that sounded great, but was built like a piece of shit. What else is there out there.

I recommend a good quality analog delay. If 300 msec is enough, the Ibanez/Maxon AD-9 or any other standard analog delay should be fine. If you need more delay than that, check out the Maxon AD900 or newer AD999, which have 600 msec or more.

Check out MusicToyz for lots of options.
