I am going to be modding a Newport Custom I have (putting a 3-coil in bridge [Rio Muy Grande HB and Muy Grande Single] and a halfbreed humbucker at the neck) and I'm going to have to add some switching.
I don't like push-pulls, so my solution is to add 2 gold toggles that look like the existing one, only shorter.
I went to All Parts and saw two basic types of toggles: ones where the switching components go straight down into the guitar and one where the components go off to the side like a smoking pipe. I've heard that Newports are hard to repair electronically and that people have had to craft custom tools to go in the f-hole, etc. Which type of switch makes sense for the Newport?
