GaryT Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 I want to darken the Tone a bit on the bridge pup of a Tele but leave the neck as -is. Can I add a second Cap in the circuit to effect just the bridge pup?If so where exactly? Thanks

Can I add a second Cap in the circuit to effect just the bridge pup?If so where exactly? ThanksDepends on the wiring of the Tele. On some Tele's the tone control doesn't affect the bridge pickup at all, so making it a master tone would take a little edge off the bridge pickup. If it's already a master tone control, you could wire a cap between the hot lead of the bridge pickup and ground, but you'd want a smaller cap than normal to cut less highs, because it would be like a tone control rolled all the way down, unless you wire a resistor in series with the cap to reduce the effect. It depends how much roll off you want. Only problem with this approach is that it will darken the bridge/neck setting too.
