mc2 Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 ...I know a lot of you guys know where to get some strange stuff, so I figured I'd ask.I have an ESP custom shop Thunderbird (Phoenix) Bass that had the headstock resprayed, so I could use a new logo decal. White or gold preferred but I guess I can't be too picky.Any leads?

mc2 Posted March 26, 2010 Author Posted March 26, 2010 Thanks Jack. The decal Shop in the UK said they could make one. Kinda pricey at 22 pounds but a good last resort. I saw those other two sources before. Those other two are larger vinyl stickers that won;t work. If anyone still reads this at some point and happens to have an ESP headstock decal laying in a drawer, still drop an email or post. I DID find a source for ESP "LTD" decals if anyone needs that but no custom shop ones. Here's a pic of the ESP Custom Shop Thunderbird (Phoenix) I have, obviously a one-off. Pretty much a direct copy of a real 60s-70s Gibson TBird from the feel and layout/hardware but with block inlays added. The spin on the headstock, I think, is clever to avoid trademark infringement...adding a 3D "beak" and a "tail" to the "bird." It is actually one of the best playing/sounding TBirds I've ever had of any make. I'm not really into ESP's but I like TBirds and this was too strange to pass up when I spotted it over in a shop in Japan....like some Japanese robot cartoon animator designed it (aka Astroboy meets Gibson.) I have another 80s ESP Custom Shop TBird with the 60s Gibson headstock that guitarist Charlie Sexton originally ordered thru his endorser account. Apparently, the ESP Custom "Technical" Shop allows you to "name" the instrument and that is what it is known by on the certificate. Whoever had this one built named it "Justice Penguin," I guess for the headstock. Funny.
