Shock? Shot? Cha?

I believe Sting yelled the same thing in "Too Much Information"

Is it some kinda slang that I was not hip to?

Big Country:

The Police.. around 1:24, then multiples at 1:52 :

The word you're looking for is 'Shout'. It's made almost unintelligible to US citizens because of the heavy Dunfermline (a town in Scotland) accent which Stuart Adamson still had at the beginning of the band's career.

How do I know this for sure? Because I was their front of house sound engineer for two tours in '83 whilst working for a UK sound rental company called SSE Audio..

Don't know about Sting's, though.

Dunfermline?

Isn't that the pink cream my mum used to put on my cuts and grazes?

Saw the Skids years ago in a grotty club in Leeds, they were one of my all time favourite bands and Into the Valley is still in my Top 10.

Stuart was a vastly underrated guitarist and songwriter.

That's one of the best one-hit wonder songs of all time. And of course, there's plenty more where that came from. Tragic ending.

Germolene!! And you're right about Stuart. One of the best live bands I ever saw, and so great to see a Scots act showing some patriotism. Very sad indeed that he's no longer with us.

That guitar line in the Big Country, that sounds like bag pipes.... Well my band deadhorse lifted it for our song Scottish Hell.
