So, the arm for my Vintage 62-S is loose and floppy and I'd like to replace the bridge. I DO have a spare ABM, but the design is such that the threaded portion of the bridge is extremely short - any wear equals a loose, sloppy arm and I hate it when things are loose and sloppy!
I know there is a little set-screw to adjust arm tension, but using that then creates an arm that does not swing very easily. I guess I am wondering if anyone has replaced an ABM 2-point trem with something else? I am a big fan of the Wilky (Gotoh) VS100, but can't tell if I'd have to re-do the pivot posts or more specifically, the inserts that hold the posts. Anyone have a good suggestion based on experience?
Anyone have a guitar with the ABM that isn't all loosey-goosey? I think it is a poor design.
