5 Watts of bedroom level high gain fun. Found this one going pretty cheap and couldn't say no. I'm not usually a high gain kind of guy, but every once in a while it's fun to visit the land of metal and do a big, smokey burnout.

Would I try to gig with it? 5 Watts would probably have a hard time keeping up with a metal band without some help from the PA.

Is it a tone machine? Like I said high gain and metal aren't my usual thing, but it does sound pretty good to me. The tone stack switch gives some pretty nice flexibility to dial things in.

Is it a fun amp to play through? Absolutely. Crunchy distortion and searing, sustainy leads. Plenty of fun to be had.

Plus it has three extra red LEDs inside so it looks extra evil.

Kudos to Randall for shipping this with a Ruby 6V6 and JJ 12AX7s, and not a bunch of no name junk tubes.

our local CL has a head like that with a matching cab (looks like a 1-10) and had a combo version of that going real reasonable. If I wasn't up to my neck in amps already  (and messing with a loaner Helix lol)...
