draelyc Posted May 31, 2022 Posted May 31, 2022 So, a while back, I swapped out the Custom Custom in the bridge of my Mirage for an Alnico II Pro, to see if it would help my amps' overdrive tones clean up better when rolling back the guitar's volume. Also had a StewMac treble bleed mod put it. Massive improvement right out of the gate ... but my Shiva still seemed to be limited as to how much its od channel would really clean up. So I started tube rolling the other day. Ended up swapping out the RFTs I had in V1-3 for a JAN/Phillips WA in V1, and I went back to the old Chinese 9th gen for V2-3. It's not quite as PHAT as it was with the RFTs, but I'm really diggin the clean & bluesy tones I'm getting now just by switching pickups & rolling back the volume. And still a pretty nice rawk crunch with the bridge 'bucker & the volume up, too, imo. What do y'all think?
