ZR Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 Tubes are like little "tone modules" for your tube amps. Try a 12at7 in place of a 12ax7 for less gain. Or, often they are used as reverb drivers etc. Even just changing your #1 tube can offer a big difference in sound. All power tubes sold! but see other post with more power tubes for sale! Power Tubes for sale... ///////////////////////////// The following used USA tubes test good on my tester...no shorts etc. the first set has nearly perfect lettering the others have various levels of their lettering on them. You can see clearly what I say they are from their markings. Some test on the lower end of the good range but still good enough for experimenting with the sound of your amp. So, they are priced accordingly. 1 RCA 12ax7/6681 in RCA boxes $14 now $11.20 each 1 nice RCA 12AT7wa Black plates w/ not perfect printing. I believe these are a military version. $14 now $11.20 each 1GE 12at7's short grey plates $8 each now $6.40 (it's the one on top) 1 GE 12ax7Long grey plate, D getter $10. now $8.00 each Paypal prefered and shipping for the preamp tubes should be like $2-4 for first class to $5 for 2-3 day Priority Mail service (that's for as many as you want) . You can add insurance to that if you want it/ pay for it...totally up to you. Just let me know if you can use anything and I'll pack them well and have them out quickly so they should get to you pretty fast! Thanks!!
Scottcrud Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 I'm interested in some preamp tubes. Are the RCA 12ax7's short plates? If so I'll take one, and I'll take the GE 12ax7 for $12.00

Brewmaster Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 I have had a lot of positive response with the TAD 6L6-STR. I put a quad in an old Ampeg VT-22 after my rebuild and the amp sounded INCREDIBLE. I put a pair in a Supersonic and they sounded real good in there as well. I place them 1-a 1-b with the current production Tung Sols.

I like swapping them out for new tones etc. More fun than sex with a rhino.
