  1. PRS and Hamer are both fabulous guitars. It's not that one is "better" than the other. It's a "feel" and "fit" issue. Some guitars just fit a player better than others. Heck, even two of the same model can feel, fit and sound different. I've got a 3 year old Ibanzez SZ520QM that I tend to pick up and play often. It cost me $500 and is rock solid, fits me like a glove and the tones are killer. But my Artist is beautiful, tone is amazing (thanks to the Seth Lovers) and hey, it's a Hamer! At the end of the day it's a preference issue. I feel more confident playing live when I'm holding a handmade USA Hamer than when I'm holding a guitar made in Korea by God only knows. There's something about knowing the heart and soul that goes into building a PRS or a Hamer.
  2. Ted, I don't have a Hamer solid body to compare my Artist GATASO to, but for me it really sings on the cleaner settings. I can totally rock out with it when I drive it and it has little to no feedback issues at full stage gain. Actually I can control the feedback on stage and that's a nice attribute. Mine has the SD Seth Lover PUPS and it has a very vintage LP tone. Great sustain, nice creamy tone. Here are some pics. I'm actually looking to trade this for a solid body Hamer, LP or PRS. Jim
  3. On behalf of singers everywhere, I would like to offer a hearty thank you! You're welcome. I used to be a lead singer... so I actually "get it."
  4. I've got a Marshall 8200 head with a 4x12 cab. Amazing sound. Very controllable. I use it all the time. That's why I own a Nissan Titan truck! We mic the cab, and I usually turn the cab toward the back wall. Helps with sound control and I still get the tone I like.
  5. Ah crap. I've been convincing myself not to look into one of those, but now . . . Nah...stay away from one. They're just Line6 crap modelling amps that couldn't possibly sound good. My POD through a Marshall Stack at 200 watts... in the words of Hannah Montana, "I get the best of both worlds " Sorry about that cheesy quote, what can I say, I have a seven year old little princess. Haha!
  6. Ah crap. I've been convincing myself not to look into one of those, but now . . . The guitar pic posted in your signature has to be one of the most stunning guitars I've ever seen! Amazing! Do you own it? I'm a sucker for blonds... i.e my wife!
  7. First of all, I'm totally impressed by your composure and demeanor. That guitar will sing when it's finally re-born. Kudos to you for giving her the TLC she deserves. May the eBay gremlins hack that dudes account and post imported fake handbags in his name (happened to me!)! Haha! I can't wait to see the next series of photos. This is like a cliff hanger... good luck!
