Nuclear Wessel Posted June 27, 2006 Posted June 27, 2006 I stopped in at the MGR by my girlfriend's place and saw they had a blue Hamer Prototype last week. It's a '81 or '82, I forgot which. It's been played, a LOT. The finish has a significant amount of checking and other wear and tear. No huge gashes or gouges that I remember. But well worn. The neck pickup was the stock Slammer, but one of the other two pickups had been replaced with a Select or some cheapo pickup.A chrome Kahler had been added. Originally this was a hard tail.Store info for anyone who's interested:MUSIC GO ROUND®5012 S. 74th StreetGreenfield, WI 53220Phone: 888-USED GEAR x53220Edited to add: IIRC, this was marked at only $249.99.
Nuclear Wessel Posted June 27, 2006 Author Posted June 27, 2006 BTW, there were some cool non-Hamer USA made there too last week. A B.C. Rich made in USA Gunslinger (offset double cutaway body) with maple fretboard bolt on neck, a single EMG bridge 85 humbucker, and Floyd liscenced bridge. Finish was a cool looking purple/black sorta ghost flame with sparklies, in pretty good shape. $400. An Axtra Stylist in jazzburst with flame top, neck dual rail single-sized humbucker and bridge humbucker (sounded like a Duncan '59). Wrap around hard tail bridge. Slightly scalloped ebony fretboard with cool MOP triangle inlays. Some checking and fair amount of player wear, most noticeably some larger scrapes down to the wood on the back of the neck from being set against stuff instead of on a stand. This is a really cool guitar and I was tempted to buy it myself. It's marked at only $279.99. It's similar to this Axtra but with no middle pickup, wrap around bridge, and jazz burst finish. Axtra is a custom guitar builder located in WI. Their instruments are superb. Axtra Guitars
