Guest Meshuggah Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 These appear to be sold pending payment.Oh, they're sold allright. Going in my Newport Pro!Are you serious? I found them too powerful for my Artist, much less a Hollow Newport. What am I missing? I have grown to love them in my wraptail Studio, but they are big and full and..well...more powerful. Not distortion, just a large voltage swing. I have a Crossroads in the neck and it's cranked down from the strings for balance with the Darkburst bridge.I'm very curious how this will turn out for you. May I request a tone report?

May I request a tone report?I like your description of the Darkbursts Jim. Very well put. Some guys love the Seths but for me they are a lttle too thin and I find them buzzy on the high end when pushed. For my 1st Newport Pro I used Fralin Unbuckers and they were great. Since that time I've used Darkbursts in my Red Sunburst and LOVE them. I'm not really going for distortion but for cleans into crunchy power tube overdrive with a wide spectrum and little or no fizz on top.Time will tell and a tone report will follow.
Guest Meshuggah Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 Hah! I think I know the secret! Turn 'em down.... I just plugged straight into a Kalamzoo One driving a Red Fang'd Jensen 1x12. Replying to this thread trumps starting a new thread entitled O.M.G! Amp on freakin' full Pups down around 4, the amp just flopping around the verge of breakup. BIG FUN! Click for pic
