miragejake Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 hey guys, i've been looking at a few artist custom's. the one i'm looking at has a serial number starting w/ 647 which according to hamer's site means it's made in the 2000's ---vague. also, this particular guitar has trapezoid/block inlays rather than crown inlays...i don't see this as a current option on hamer's website. 1) anybody know if the trapezoid/block inlays were standard on the artist custom at this time--or was this some sort of upgrade?2) also--any idea of exactly year a serial # beginning w/ 647 would be?? thanks jake
sw686blue Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 The guitar is built in 1996. Trapezoids? I have not seen one of those. Hmmm?
DavidE Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 What do you mean by trapezoid/block inlays?Traps are like what you find on a LP Std. and we also refer to those as crowns. The newer three piece inlays are Hamer's "victory" inlays. How many total digits in the serial number?
Guest pirateflynn Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 I'm pretty sure the guitar your looking at is from '96. Also, trapizoid and crown inlays are the same (right?). Block inlays start out square near the nut and gradually become more rectangular as they move up the neck.Anyway, those are nice guitars which would probably run $1,100-$1,300.Good luck with it.
DavidE Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 If I remember right, my artist custom is a 1996. Totally standard except for the color:
miragejake Posted June 5, 2007 Author Posted June 5, 2007 guys, s/n is 647412. sorry for the confusion...the inlays are shaped like a crown---there not the "victory" inlays that are on the current artist customs. so did they used to have the crowns before they started using the victorys? ---and this guitar is a 96?hey david, what's your serial number?
sw686blue Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 The victory inlays were introduced a few years ago (after 2000 iirc).
