That's out of the norm then. Everything I've seen or read (even interviews with John) say no RK for G3. That's not to say he doesn't carry a backup rig with him. It would also be a little unusual for him to have heads onstage. In fact, I can't remember him ever doing so. His rigs are very tidy and wired up by Mark Snyder and always in road cases.

Yup...heads on top of cabs. 2 of them. One of them had the faceplate removed, but the other was clearly a RK and the one with the faceplate removed was identical to the RK in every respect other than the faceplate.

Maybe this was an early show on the tour and he switched shortly after. The thump he was getting sounded *nothing* like a MKIV, it was clearly a recto type of tone. When he palm muted, your chest felt the thump...LOL!!!

I gave up on Mesa Boogie amps when I bought my 1st Matchless in '94. Eventhough, the Matchless had only one sound it was much more to my liking. No fuss, just plug in and play and it sounded awesome every time. Since then, I've owned probably a dozen different Matchless' amps - all the 15 watters, HC30s, Clubmans, etc. - man it was a fun ride.

Today there are so many good builders it's impossible to try them all. My tastes have definately shifted toward Humbucker/ Marshall tones and I still prefer simple circuit amps. Blockhead and Germino do it for me. Of course, I am a cord into amp w/little to no effects guy. And, to be fair I haven't owned a Boogie in over 12 years.

I can see the importance of a Boogie channel switching amp if you need a variety of tones available at the touch of a button. It's just not my thing.

I find myself forgetting this thing has two channels. I only have one more amp that I desire and that's a Dr Z. SRZ 65. Thier's one for sale on the Gear Page but I know I can find one cheaper.
