Speaker upgrade 2x12 cab - classic 30 head

I've got a 2x12 Peavey cab with the original blue marvels in it, I'm not real thrilled with the sound - I'm getting better sound out of a epi 1x12 cab for a valve jr. I'm thinking of going with the Warehouse speakers, or should I say I am going to go with them, but not sure if I want the veteran 30's (vintage 30 clones) or the greenback clones. First off, 2- 25 watt speakers should be fine for a 30W head, right? Any advice on what you guys would do, considering I mostly play Aerosmith /Zeppelin / Beatles/ CCR/type stuff with the occasional VH / hair metal tune thrown in? V-30's probably the best bet? Head is stock - upgrading to JJ tubes this week, main effects are a Rat, Bad Monkey and a digi delay, with the Bad Monkey with the OD channel getting most of the work.

Maybe go with one of each? Either way, you'll be fine wattage-wise.

Haven't heard the Green Berets but the Veteran 30s are very cool. Not as harsh of an upper midrange spike out of the box like the Celestions have.

I like to mix also so... I don't really like v30s whith the Classic 30 though...too much mids... I have a 2x12 cab with a mix of a Eminence Governor and Wizard (V30/G12h-30 clones). I've done the Governor/Private Jack(V30/Greenback clone) mix to0... the only problem is that the V30 is more sensitive than the Greenback so the V30 tone is the dominate sound... With the Warehouse Speakers maybe the Veteran and whatever the Classic Lead speaker is modeled after might be a good mix?

Thanks for the replies. Chris, I was thinking about mixing, but I was kind of afraid of what Craig said- these two may not mix well together. I'll probably by two of one type, then maybe try on of another later on, I don't know. Was kind of curious if anyone tried a greenback type in a C 30, and what it did to the sound. I'm leaning towards the v30 just because I've heard good things - like you said no Vintage 30 mid hump. Maybe I'm talking myself into the veteran 30.
