sw686blue Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 I'm looking to trade my Nickel covered SD Custom for a Zebra (Cream/Black) Custom pickup. The screw lugs must be on the cream bobbin. Also, pickup must be in excellent shape.Thanks.Nick
atquinn Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 I assume you've already checked to make sure your isn't zebra under the cover (you can just take one of the polepiece screws all the way out to see the color of the coil)? I just bought a zebra Custom last week to replace my chrome one (which was double-black under the cover- DOH!). -Austin
sw686blue Posted February 19, 2009 Author Posted February 19, 2009 Austin,Are you talking about one of the six screws on the top side of the pickup? I didn't try that. I removed the 4 screws from the bottom of the pickup and to be honest, I couldn't tell from looking.
atquinn Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 One of the 6 screws on the top of the pickup. Take it all the way out and you'll be able to see the bobbin color. A bit of wax might come up, but it's no big deal. I've done it with a few covered pickups, most were, I assume, double-black (they could have be reverse zebra, but that's highly unlikely), one was white (a Custom Custom) and one was double cream (a Seth Lover). For the white one, I was taking the cover off to do a magnet swap anyway, so that's how I saw it was all white. For the Seth, once I saw the screw coil was cream, I took the cover off because zebra or double-cream would have both been fine by me. -Austin

So, I'm still alookin'!
