Kilroy is all about... Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Lots of combo amps and little time to play them all so here are some tasty selections depending if your gate swings to the vintage or boutique. VOX PACEMAKER-first ever solid state amp (18 watts) ever produced (1963) in US by Thomas Organ Co and recently tuned up with new plug and replaces caps. Has the pristine chime and growl when 'dimed' out; takes pedals, especially o/d, well. It sounds great with either a Butler o/d or Matchless Hotbox in front of it. Has working Tremolo, original yellow back Neo-speaker (10') and output to drive cabinet speaker. $650 shipped EPIPHONE-pacemaker (gibson RVT19), produced in 1964 or 1965 at the Kalamazzo, Michigan and all tubes with funky preamps 6101 (lots of extra NOS replacements), tube driven rectifier and 6V6 outputs. Original Jensen Blue in the cabinet with full working REVERB and TREMOLO. if you like the deep, 60ish reverb and play that surfer vibe rock then this is ideally voiced to produce that tone. Tremolo works well and has frequency and depth knobs. $650 shipped. I'm the third owner and this was a closet queen with original rubber dust cover and a little wear around the corners. I post some pictures later as i cannot find then in photobucket. ORANGE AD15, which is a really a VOX 15, and has two NOS preamps 12x7 (pick Telefunkens or Mullards), tube rectifier, and two EL 84 outputs. I'm the original owner and apparently, this was the last amp available in the fall of 2003 with less than 50 ever produced (that's what orange representative stated over the phone). when the gain and volume are dimed, then one gets to experience the compression/sag/lag that responds well to the player's dynamic picking. Celestion V30 is broken-in and sounds sweet. this amp is a LOUD 15 watts due to the class A output feature. $1050 shipped. included 'orange' labeled dust cover! more pictures available if interested.. Bluesking Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Is the Orange hand wired/PTP?I thought I read somewhere that the limited run of these were built without PCBs.
