  1. I completely understand what you're doing. Love the Whitesnake '87 with Jonny Sykes on guitar. Coverdale lives in Lake Tahoe (Nevada side, of course!) and I often see him and his family shopping on Sundays at the Whole Foods ("whole paychecks") Market in Reno. Once, I shouted, "yo, Coverdale you should've never fired Jonny Sykes!" He retorted, "Jonny-boy wanted to be half-owner of Whitesnake, and that ain't happin'!" I've got Van Halen I and II in the car and explain this type of music as "cock-rock" from the late 70s. Pure metal guitar in punk rock length songs! The freshman high school son digs it. the younger girls don't get it...yet. Got the Lap of Luxury from the Trick going and my 7th grader loves the Flame, so I've started to learn and play that tune. Great comeback song and decent songs. Also, in the car: Hendrix "Experience", White Stripes "Elephant", Oasis "Greatest Hits", and Iron Maiden "Powerslave" and Jeff Beck 2003 release.... Kilroy
  2. No longer active duty, but blissfully retired from 20 years of flying Navy P-3 Orions. My two younger brothers and my father were Marines, so they've got that going for them. Currently, I'm the deputy attorney general for the Nevada National Guard--does that count? kilroy
  3. hope it all turns out for the best and will keep on the prayer/vibe/karma list. Peace...rk
  4. funny...i looked and laughed with the 'kiz' inclusion for pics.. brilliant work! kilroy
  5. dude, you gotta post some pictures. A few years ago, I had the opportunity to play/demo one for 'bout three hours in a local guitar shop in indianapolis and i still remember how well it played and how cool it sounded---real bluesly and a full-bodied tone. rk posts... i've got lots of electrics i'd offer in trade...but that's not what you wanted.
  6. live in RENO, NV on Saturday, the 3rd of May. This band was my FIRST concert in louisville '80, which was a year later from the first concert that I wanted to attend, but was denied to attend for being too young. Ken Jones remembers the CheapTrick april 79 gig, because he attended it and took awesome pictures, but I was not able to experience it. But, RUSH is the real deal. There will be an afternoon HAMER/RUSH jam and bbq at the Kilroy residence, so all are welcome rk

  10. Employing the KISS principle: keep it simple...(stupid). Considering this fundamental rule regarding investments and timing: the TREND is your friend UNTIL something SUBSTANTIAL and/or SIGNIFICANT occurs that alters that trend. In this case, the trend regarding 'investment' grade musical investments is positive and climbing prices will continue until that S/S event occurs. Supporting evidence: the NASDAQ tech wreck was commenced in september of 00 when INTEL pre-announced the massive inventory of chips; the rising real estate market topped with the prolonged interest hikes that has occurred during the past several months. Forecasting a top in the investment guitars IF and WHEN the baby-boomers (like me) get victimized by a prolonged 'recession' when wages stall and inflation diminishes our purchasing power. As for this NOT 'pissed off lawyer' who collects, trades, and sells, I believe the underlying fundamentals of supporting the gibson/fender/hamer appreciation are losing steam. Those doctors/lawyers/speculators can no longer use the 'equity' in their homes to purchasing power...just a thought...Around Reno/Tahoe area, the saying goes...follow the hummer to the foreclosure/bankruptcy proceeding. Alternatively, ONE NEVER GOES BROKE capturing profits or selling when the market is hot; the slang goes: sell into strength and buy when there's blood in the streets. It appears to me that there is strength in the market and it will go soft if a recession occurs. So, sell one and buy some gold (or, gold stocks AUY/AEM/AAUK), which has value and will OUTPERFORM any other 'investment' for the next five to seven years. i'll buy one of those vintage hamers...if you selling...
  11. F-IN', BLOODY, BRILLIANT...RED MARSHALL 1/2 stack and most importantly, that PARK cab must be the BEE'S KNEES...i'm impressed with the gear and i recall how 0225 for sale post got it's fair share of banter between HFCers...i, too, like kurtstuff's' lovin' this stuff. BCR's 0465 is a good/fair deal below $4k, but what do i know ... kilroy posts ...
  12. But if any HFCers contact me, I can work something out. stay away...stay away...stay away... super-duper cool piece and how's the neck size? please send PM with the answer on the neck and your best cash price or trade options.. kilroy posts ...
  13. Concur with the righteous features and superb benefit of a wide-ranging tone machine: pristine clean to crunchy munchy!! as a tube-snot, what's she pack'd in'der? kilroy posts...

  15. it's true that she's leaving...to another attorney thanks, it's sold to a righteous hawaii resident kilroy thanks all of those positive posts and especially those killer bcr pictures.
  16. SOLD ...to another attorney, but at least this one lives in lovely Hawaii ! thanks....Pluto Attempting to streaming the post in order to move said product. '04 BCR custom shop order; KORINA VECTORw/BRAZILIAN fretboard with VICTORY inlays; custom pickguard/ring; and aftermarket LINDY FRALIN humbucker pups; custom spec'd LES PAUL neck, which is a betweener from the '50's baseball bat to the '60s slim neck. cool pose with former owner jerseydrew's marshall 1/2 stack in the buff in the bed pose Considering I've got two others, (#19/72 Matthew Sweet's and UberVector ) this wonderful guitar is available and should be someone's new and everlasting No#1. paypal and/or payment plan is acceptable. kilroy posts $2.1k shipped w/in conus; $2.25k shipped overseas... in the factory
  17. this should helpful: MOJO from the electrons within the vacuum tubes and VIBES from the valves. i got a solid state VOX pacemaker, circa'64 , that chimes when dimed, yet a simple fender blues junior does both the pristine clean and the dirty-birdy, fatty-matty crunch, so my mileage does vary. note: fender is mack'd out with mullard el-84 and old school, black-plated RCAs 12AX7. recemmendation: spend the $$ and get a 15-watter , class-A tube amp and it should be suitable to your late nite jams. kilroy
  18. 'Oh - I forgot. Make it a doubleneck.' get back to work cm. whow....those are really cool kilroy posts...wastes time; avoids litigation at all costs!
  19. yyy aaaaa..Red, you're opinions aren't worthless . In fact, I can relate to being pushed around because i had a belief/story/attitude that was contrary to public opinion. Nevertheless, you're 'puffing' the features and benefits of your buddy's guitar and that's all about sales , so latitude is given. However, that guitar is not worth your claim$ within this forum, which can have both very helpful information and back-biting commentary--(check your feelings at the gate and engage with an open-mind-that's what i do) Once back in early '04, i disclosed i had a $6k '59 reissue les paul and got royally flamed, but i learned from the experience and have continued to play, buy/sell and traded some of rarest of hamers with some righteous dudes. good luck.. kilroy posts..
  20. Considering Uncle Rick calls his pointing hamers EXPLORERS , not standards, (prose Nielsen's guitar descriptions in the back of his book)I believe Red can call his buddy's whored-out-plank a $1.2k Blitz.... kilroy continues to avoid his in-basket this fine monday morning.
  21. Although, I am not a 'business/industry' type in the sense that I have a store-front or website, I did have an agenda for the five hours I spent in NAMM on saturday. First of all, there was the 0148 deal, which was quite cool selling IT (with much reluctance!) to a neato-torpedo Sweden--ULF! Secondly, I had to measure up the neck size for my hamer/bcr custom order and platzer had a cool chuck of wood for my purpleburst dream. signed the order sheet... Thirdly, I went to 'grip and grin' with Paul Rivera Junior as he was the one who painted those Rick Nielsen Rivera R5512 amps in black/silver checker and he offered to have his techs do an inspection/rebias on the piece i got from RN--that's cool for the end-user. He laughed when i asked him to spill the beans on RN's silverface deluxe Rivera modded amps that RN currently has racked. Additionally, i stole about 20 minutes of Mark Sampson's (matchless, bad cat, SWR, STAR) time as i blew 'sunshine' telling him how he's an inspiration for all of us class A amp/tube geeks. After that i gave him my business card (Attorney General/nevada highway patrol-get out of a speeding ticket,) and we laughed about "kilroy is here' and kilroy want another tube; he agreed to do a custom, one-off, 35 watter head if i send him the checkered tolex. another cool-end user treatment. Only spent five hours and it was enough...visual sightings: platzer and his lovely wife; guitarist dave narravo, telsa's frank hannon, paul rivera and junior, and matty smith...righteous dude, so let's do the fall-time clinic in platzerville! selling a 4-digit is an emotional deal....nothing like flipping a random hamer or gibson or fender... kilroy posts...
  22. for what's it's worth : KURT is an awesome dude to do git'tar business with and stuff! kilroy posts...
