lonote049 Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 I have the opportunity to buy a Fender Studio Bass amp. It is an all-tube (6 X 6L6 power section), 200watt combo loaded with an EV 15" speaker. They are pretty uncommon. The one I'm considering is from the late 70's / early 80's and is in very good - excellent shape. I have heard it decsribed as the bass version of the Super Twin. The seller is asking $500. Does anybody have any experience with this amp and/or have any idea whether $500 is a fair price?
Jack C Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 I have nothing productive to contribute, but that amp sounds like it would weigh a ton. Probably sounds great, though.
tgoss Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 (6) 6L6's - that's alot of juice! I'll bet it's no featherweight to carry and upkeep might be on the pricey side. I'd say it's not a bad price for a tube amp of that size. I'm sure it's got quite a nice tone also. Might want to keep/install a small fan.
Jamie K Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 http://www.harmony-central.com/Bass/Data/F...io_Bass-01.htmlquite a few positive review comments at Harmony Central. You can also see what others paid used for them.
lonote049 Posted July 18, 2005 Author Posted July 18, 2005 Thanks for the Harmony Central link. I never thought there'd be a review of one of these antiques over there!
