Hamer P90 Special neck profiles..........

Most of the Hamer instruments that I have owned have been USA archtop P90 models . I'm currently shopping around for a 90's Special P90 but am having trouble getting a good frame of reference for the neck profiles on these, and how to choose the right one. Do the profiles really differ in feel that much in the 92-94 models, and how would these compare to the P90 USA Archtop, Les Paul, and basic C-shaped Tele? I'm also looking @ the Korina Special and would like to add this profile into the mix. Thanks in advance!

I'm afraid if you want an early 90's Special (92' - 93' seem the be the most plentiful on the used market) you'll most likely run into more pencil thin necks than not before finding one that is closer to medium. From my own experiences 92's seem very skinny, later 93's seem a little better but still a slender medium. Never owned a later made one, but I would imagine that by mid-94' (probably on through to 97'/98') the neck profile became a little bigger? FWIW I've heard it mentioned here and have seen it with my own guitars, if it has the Hamer tuners with the small tuner buttons, it is probably a pencil neck. The models with larger buttons (late 93'-up) tend to run a little thicker, but this is probably just a generalization.

1999 is when the necks became consistently thicker. Anything before is inconsistent.
