FX Recommendations

Hey y'all,

I think my Digitech RP3 will let me down sooner or later. I am having problems with the pedals (have to push several times etc) and I have to recalibrate its volume pedal, which is the biggest problem, cause I always use that thing.

What kinda FX do you guys recommend?? What I am using from the RP3 are Dist/overdrives, reverbs, equalizer and a lil chorus sometimes.

What I need is a overal fat, bright sound, with a control for lead.

Thanks a lot,

Jeroen

Dirty:

I'll second the FullDrive II for warm and howling OD. Then put an original Rat pedal right behind it, set for 50 percent of it's gain. Cascade the two and you have instant Boogie Mark III.

Others:

My favorite effect of late is my three-knob MIJ Boss CS-2 Compression/Sustainer. It stays on most of the time, clean or dirty. I set it for a light country squish with the attack at 2 o'clock to make notes sing a little longer.

If you can learn how to use it right (Turdus content), the Voodoo Labs Proctavia makes for something interesting when you're halfway between clean and dirty.

Can't go wrong with a Boss digital delay, but I'm really tempted to try a Digitech Digidelay because of the bang for the buck factor I keep reading about on the Web. Danelectro's Dan-Echo is another sleeper that can be secured cheap, but consistency varies from pedal to pedal so try a few before you throw down the money.

If you play around with the settings on a MIJ Boss PH-2 Super Phaser, you can get both phaser and convincing-enough-flanger settings out of the one pedal.
