I just yanked the stock poly film caps out of a beater Epi that is my standing ready guitar and installed 2 Russian PIO .015uF caps. Wow, not sure if it's just the change in value or the PIO caps....for the price/ease I cannot beleive what a difference this has made.

Were the original caps the same value @ .015uF?

What kind of difference?

They were stock so I'm assuming they were .022. Less muddy and treble cut off is more gradual. It may be a placebo effect but rolling the tone from 4 - 10 the tones are more musical, less harsh to me.

That's why Hamer uses a 0.01 uF cap. The tone rolls off gradually and at zero you get perfect "woman tone" but not mud.

I actually have a pair of those as well in POI. I was hesitant to make a jump that far. Now that I have gone to .015uF I realize that they would be pretty sweet.
