Removing tarnish off of a nickel pickup cover

How do you remove tarnish from a Nickle plated pickup cover? will regular old tarnish remover do the trick, and is it safe to do it with the pickup still in the guitar?

Some of you may think is stupid quesiton, Just consider me a stupid guy.

flitz. you can get it at just about any hardware store. rub a little on and buff it back off. works like a charm.

Just get the tarnish off quick, lest ye be accused of "relic-ing"...hehehe

I recently detailed my 77Sunburst... used Noxon to clean up the nickel tuners and remove tarnish from the frets after masking the headstock and fingerboard with blue painters tape. Two applications does the trick.
