Can someone help diagnose this amp problem?

Hi. When putting my guitar cable into a seldom used parallel channel input jack, the input jack broke off from the outside.

Now, the clean channel works fine, but the second channel makes a lot of static, and when using any of the push/pull pots or the standby switch there is loud popping on the second channel.

What could this be? Also, is this amp worth getting fixed? It is a red knob Fender Twin and cost about $700 in 1987. I figure the repair could be at least $250 now, just for labor.

What should I do with this amp? I have a Fargen Blackbird on the way.

Fixing a jack shouldn't cost anywhere near that much. If it does, I'm quitting my job and starting an amp repair bidnez.

Okay, but why has it affected the sound on the second channel? This is when I put the guitar cable into the input on the first channel and switch channels with the push/pull volume switch. The guitar cable is nowhere near the broken input.

if the jack broke then their could be something floating around and intermittently shorting out. shoudl be a fairly simple fix once someone gets it apart. alot of the red knob fenders used pc board mounted jacks (like pv's). hopefully no boards were compromised.

There's a rather complex switching jack arrangement on those amps. If one of the jacks has something shorting out, etc., it could be causing your problem even on the "other" channel.

You can find at the schematic at www.blueguitar.org
