DavidE Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 I'm thinking about swapping out my Boss V-wah for a few reasons, though it really does some pretty cool things and I liked it better than my old Vox and a modded (fulltone inductor, pot and true bypass) Vox that I tried again this weekend (they both sucked too much tone). But I think I read good things about the Bad Horsie here and the idea of a switchless wah is appealing to me.Any thoughts on this wah? What kind of real estate (especially side to side) does it take up compared to a vox? Thanks!
silentman Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 The switchless feature is what did it for me. I'm not a purist, so as long as it sounds like a wah to me it's good enough. I don't use it a lot. Side to side, this will take up more real estate than a crybaby/vox and the jacks and power supply are located on each side.
MCChris Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 A Teese couldn't unseat mine, which should tell you something. This was mainly due to the switchless feature, which I'm now addicted to. The BHII has two flavors of wah in one pedal, and don't rule out the also-switchless Tremonti wah; regardless of what you think of Creed, this pedal has its own voice which many rave about. The X-factor is the Morley tone; it's unlike a Crybaby or any of the derivatives. Like all gear, it'll either work for you or it won't.
MCChris Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 Any reason not to get a BH version 1? Not really. The only difference is on the BHII you can switch in an adjustable contour control and a boost. I find the BHI tone better for clean/crunch and the contour tone better for high gain. Just some added versatility.
silentman Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 I use a BH1. I don't feel the need to upgrade.
Guest JackButler Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 Another BH wah user here.. used mine for years now without any issues ever..built like a tank..sounds great. I use the BH I version, but have a II on the way just for the heck of it. I got an endorsement deal with Morley recently and really only needed some adaptors, but they asked so I said yeah..send it. lol.
MCChris Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 Just for grins, there's some BHII insanity in this jam starting at about 1:45 and ending about 2:48:http://musecafeonline.com/mcchris/05150507.MP3
alantigold Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 I went w/the BHII for the versatility of having the contour mode. Also, no one has mentioned that you can adjust the off time (how long it takes to turn the wah effect off when you lift your foot off the pedal). You have to get into the innards, but it's easy to do.I don't think I've used my Crybaby since I got the BH.Alan
