tomteriffic Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 OK, I've got this Yamaha Pacifica 12-string Strat (not 'start') style 12-string. It'll have to do until me, the right Eclipse 12, and the appropriate amount of cash all meet up in the same spot. (Hamer Content fulfilled). It's your basic 3 single-coil configuration and looks great. But the pickups are very low-output and two-dimensional sounding.I'm looking for something that is pretty high-output, noise-free, and will fit in a typical strat single-coil cavity. Oh, and it ought to be white. Cheap/used is good, too.I've considered: Lawrence 290's, various Duncan SC sized humbuckers, etc. There are so damn many flavors of the Duncans I get dizzy trying to sift through them all. I've looked at DiMarzio's too and the same thing happens.Given that the top endy stuff will be there anyway, what would you recommend for some decent output level and grunt?
tgoss Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 Take a look at used Lace Sensors. I put them in my Strat 12 string and they made a cosiderable difference, not to mention the lack of pole pieces made for smoother string-to-string balance. The Gold ones are original single coil sounding, Silver is a little hotter, Blue is neck humbucker, Red is bridge humbucker.
Nuclear Wessel Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 Lace Sensors are a good choice. If you're going for clean 12 string sounds, they'd be great.Carvin pickups sound good and have a multitude of pole pieces so every string gets picked up. They have a vintage humbucker model, the C22, and one with a little more grunt, the M22. Single coils and twin blade SC size humbuckers too. Only thing is they don't come in white. Creme is the closest they make.Good luck!
