Vector XT project

Question

I'm about to start a new project and hope for some good advice here. I got a Vector XT on Evilbay and plan to do some upgrades: The tuning pegs must go ('cause they suck!), the input jack needs a useful position and I want to install active EMG pickups. Anybody here have any experience on that, i.e. which tuning pegs would fit, enough space for the 9V battery, etc.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks,

Dan

RE: Battery. Just stick it beneath the electrics cover wrapped in something that will cushion it & keep it away from anything electric/pots/switches etc. I used cotton padding & a plastic bag on an Ibanez. Here's a website showing how to fit EMGs http://www.emgpickups.com/search/wiring

Ok, now that I moved the input jack and fixed the tuners I'm stuck with the pickups. I decided against the EMG's as I'm looking for a different sound. I tried Harmonic Design Z90,Gibson Burstbucker and Dirty Fingers and Seymour Duncan JB's but none gave a balanced and well rounded sound. It always seemed kinda thin, even with trying both the bridge and neck positions.

Any thoughts which pickup might fit the guitar, it starts to drive me nuts

Cheers,

Dan

Ps. It's a Vector FT, not a XT
