What does it do? I get the "down" position gets you an octave up, and the "up" is just the regular note, but what about the middle? It sounds the same as "up" to my ears. 2 trim pots on the PC board - I assume for adjusting the sensitivity? Anyone have a manual for this thing?

I was bummed because the bridge pickup didn't seem to work at first, but then neither did the Sustainiac. Fresh batteries and all is well. I wonder why the bridge pickup needs the batteries to function?!? Both neck and middle worked fine with dead batteries, but not the bridge......

in middle it is octave and regular, combination of the two.

trims are for

a. octave

b. overall balance

(would not mess with these's unless it really out of wack.)

fresh strings with the new battery will wake it up.

set up the sustainer pup as close as you can to the last fretted strings, the lower to taste.

bridge pup is in the active circuit, part of the equation (like a EMG).

So, when the Sustainiac is engaged, the volume pot no longer works and seems to have an effect on the "gain" structure?!? Rolled back, it gets farty sounding. The tone pot changes as well, and seems to do little if anything. It MIGHT be adjusting the intensity, but I need to set up the whole system so it comes on a bit stronger as it seems weak overall. Is this normal?
