I dropped a set of the J200 stacked singles with the mid-boost circuit into a Model 1A. I deleted the ground wire that goes to the trem claw and there is a buzz that mostly goes away when I put my hands on the 5-way switch screws and completely vanishes when I also touch the strings.
I know the EMG stuff doesn't use the string ground, but does anyone know if the Jackson system needs the string ground at the claw?
Thanks in advance for the assistance.

Edited to add that while the preamp uses a battery, I suppose the pickups themselves are indeed passive.
