As I've begun tooling up my guitar line this past year, we've incorporated serialized neck plates for the custom guitars we've made.
I have a good etcher locally who has done all of my serial numbering and plate branding thus far, but today he ran into a plate from hell that he could not etch through the finish, he says he ran it through 10 times with little to no break through.
He says the plate is magnetic so we know that it is steel. I am positive that all of my prior plates were brass stock with either a black or chrome plating, but have no idea who the manufacturer was or where I got them .
Wondering if anybody here knows of any particular plate brands or suppliers whose plates will etch without the issues we encountered today ?
