Phat cat choice

Hello to all

I had the chance to take back an Artist but with non original Seth Lover in it...full mahogany

Having one Artist in Korina (with 59 as well) and the Mahogany I will change the PU in it, I am wondering on which guitar to install the Phat Cat...and then the 59 I like more (they are sweeter, is it first possible to get a difference in level on the same PU brand and model ? not the same production year but....)

Will the Phat Cat be better oriented in a Korina Artist (for the snap, the single coil dimension) or shall be great within a full mahogany artist too, ebony fingerboard ?

I d like to keep both for the different orientation...one for the more "manouche" style and the other one for the sweet jazzy sound.

Are the Phat Cat able of those sweet sounds ?

Thanks for your knowledge and have a nice easter, with or without Rabbit. Gilles (would have loved to sign Hugh Heffner...)

A Phat Cat at the neck position is definitely capable of an excellent jazz sound--clear with lots of snap with a dimensional sweetness about it. Most of my experience is with it mounted in a spruce-top Newport, but I also have a mahogany Anniversary (like Artist Mahogany HB) with 59/JB combo, and have long felt that it would benefit from the added clarity of a Phat Cat at the neck. Also, Hamer put Phat Cats in the Newport Korina and had a P90 version of both the mahogany and Korina versions of the Artist, so I'd say the Phat Cat should work really well in any of your scenarios. You may have to dial the tone knob back to a 6 or so, but that also depends on your individual taste and the amp you team the guitars with.
